Getting Closer to God | Alka-Seltzer Lamp

Needed:

• 3 cups of Oil (I use paraffin or lamp oil but you likely use any type of oil) – You want to choose a color that is in stark contrast to the color of the food coloring you chose
• 3 Cups of Water (colored with food coloring)
• Food Coloring (dark colors are best… blue)
• A tall, clear glass vase or jar
• 2 clear cups or vases smaller than the big vase but big enough to hold the oil or water
• Package of Alka Seltzer tablets

Preparation:

Put 3 cups of water and color it pretty dark with food coloring (this measurement can vary wildly just make sure that you use the same amount of water as you do oil).  Pour the water into one of the smaller glasses or vases and the oil into the other.

Tear open the packages of Alka Seltzer tablets and have them ready and set to the side.

Lesson:

Today we are going to be talking about How the Holy Ghost can allow us to get close to God in a way that would be otherwise impossible after sin was introduced to the world.

This represents us

HOLD UP THE COLORED WATER AND POUR IT INTO THE VASE

And this represents God

HOLD UP THE CLEAR OIL AND THEN POUR IT INTO THE LARGE VASE

When man sinned, it caused a divide between God and man.  Before that happened God and man were so close. In the book of Genesis, it says that they walked together in the cool of the evening in the garden… they talked together.

God made man to live forever and He even had man name His new wonderful creation, one animal at a time.  There was NOTHING between God and man… AND THEN CAME SIN.

Satan himself came and convinced man that he could be as smart as God if he just took a piece of fruit from the tree that God has already said, “DO NOT EAT”.  When man disobeyed God, sin was unleashed

As you can see from the vase here, sin has a way of separating man from God.  You see, God will NOT live with sin.

But God in His infinite wisdom found a way that we could once again be united.  He found a way that we could once again become close.  Does anyone know what that way is?

YES!  God Himself came and gave His life for us so we could once again be together. He gave us a plan… the plan of salvation. He died for us and just like He died, WE need to die to our sins – it is called REPENTANCE.

He was buried and the bible says that the like figure and the mirror image of that is baptism – like He was buried in a tomb, we are buried in the waters of baptism in Jesus name.  He rose again and even so we also should walk in newness of life – which is the Holy Ghost. Jesus will come and live inside of us so we can once again be reunited.

THE WATER AND OIL SHOULD BE COMPLETELY SEPARATED AT THIS POINT – DROP IN THE ALKA-SELTZER TABLET AND WATCH THE OIL AND WATER BEGIN TO MIX AGAIN

 

When you get Jesus inside of you, you are now a part of man being once again reunited with Jesus and if we keep loving Him and living for Him until the end, we will go with Him to be forever in the city where the Lamb is the Light.

God has made a way through the gift of the Holy Ghost for us to be reunited with Him.  We must STAY prayed up and full of the Holy Ghost and if we do we can interact once again with God.

THE MORE TABLETS YOU ADD, THE MORE EXAGERATED THE REACTION.  I LIKE TO ADD A LOT AND SEE IT BUBBLE, FIZZ AND SPILL OVER!
