Restored By The Oil | God Can Put You Back Together Again

What you need:

• A big clear rounded vase – The best one I have used was purchased at Walmart for around $10.  Click this link to see it.
• 2ea exactly matching rounded smaller vases – One of these vases needs to be able to fit inside the bigger one with room to spare. The best ones can be found at Dollar Tree.  They are almost always in stock everywhere and are very cheap.  Click this link to see them.
• 1 gallon of vegetable oil (Wesson is preferred but usually not essential)
• A hammer
• A towel
• Gloves

About the lesson:

When the have the right type of glass vase inside another glass vase and fill the bigger vase with oil, the inside vase becomes invisible.  You start the lesson with a vase already inside but unnoticeable.  During your lesson you will smash a vase and put the pieces inside the big vase.  When you are ready, you just reach in and put out the 2nd intact vase from inside.  It will look like the broken pieces have been reassembled.

Preparation:

Put one of the smaller vases into the middle of the larger vase and then pour the vegetable oil into and around the smaller vase until the level of the oil just reaches the top of the smaller vase.

As you pour you should see the inside vase beginning to disappear as the oil filled and surrounds it.  If you pour too much oil, you will reveal the top rim of the inside vase.  If this happens, just take oil out until the top rim of the glass isn’t noticeable.

NOTE: This lesson is very finicky and may not work with all glass vases.  The ones I recommend above have always worked for me but anything else will require trial and error.

Also, when you smash the vase, it is very wise to place it inside a towel first so shards of glass don’t fly out everywhere.  This is bad in a room full of kids.

Secondly, when you are picking up the broken pieces of glass, it is very easy to cut yourself (I know from experience) so I highly recommend gloves.

Lastly when you put the broken pieces into the oil, try not to put the broken pieces into the smaller vase secreted inside because the kids will see you pour them out when you empty the oil from the 2nd vase.

Lesson:

We need to be very careful about being proud but we also need to be careful about feeling like we have nothing to offer God.

HOLD UP THE GLASS

This glass is you, and you and me and everyone here. We start out life with SO MANY GREAT PLANS.  We look so good! Our future’s SO BRIGHT, the sky’s the limit, we just know that we can be anything we put our mind to… but then something happens.

Perhaps someone has done something TO YOU or maybe just a tragedy that happened that you didn’t expect. Maybe it was the LAST THING YOU WANTED but something happened in your life that you felt absolutely CRUSHED YOU TO PIECES!

Maybe someone you loved left you or passed away or someone did something to you that wasn’t right and you just didn’t understand.  You just DON’T UNDERSTAND, “WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?”

BREAK THE JAR

And suddenly your life is in ruins.

Your big dreams are crushed… Your plans of being something GREAT FOR GOD are SMASHED IN A 1,000 pieces. Now you are going nowhere!  Instead of changing the world, now, I don’t even NOW HOW I AM GOING TO SURVIVE!

BUT GOD…

Those 2 little words have the answer to EVERYTHING that ever happens to you… but God.  No matter what has happened… GOD CAN RESTORE YOU! God is always there waiting for you… with open arms, He is just waiting for you to give Him a chance

Give Him the broken pieces.  Give Him the shattered dreams, the crushed plans. Submit yourself to Him completely and just watch Him work!

PUT THE PIECES IN THE JAR (try not to get them inside the smaller vase already inside)

My God has the power to restore! He can put all the broken pieces back together again! JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE!

PULL THE GOOD JAR OUT (Note: you will get your hands oily, but oh well.  I have tried to wear gloves for this part as well but when I do the glass covered with oil is just too slippery)

My God can HEAL you! He can give you your life back.  He can breathe excitement back into you. You CAN be something GREAT for GOD and fulfill those BIG DREAMS.  You can be an incredible MAN OR WOMEN OF GOD if just give Him the pieces, do what’s right and TRUST HIM!
