What you need:

Prep:

Have the tips in loose, easily accessible side pocket that you can slip your hands into and put the thumbs on without anyone knowing what you are doing.  Give the 2nd set to someone else and have them get ready to cooperate at the appropriate time.  Practice… practice… practice.

About the lesson:

This lesson uses magic thumb tips/thumb lights. They slip over your thumbs and when pressed between your thumb and finger they light up. By having one on each hand you can appear to make lights appear anywhere you want, pass them from hand to hand, swallow them, pull them out of your ears, nose, eyes etc.

You can have LOTS of fun with these even if you don’t use them for a lesson, they are great to carry around with you for the spur of the moment fun with kids.

Lesson:

Sometimes people like to catch every single little thought that flies by and grab onto it.

REACH OUT AND PRETEND TO GRAB A THOUGHT OUT OF THE AIR AND ACTIVATE THE THUMB LIGHT ON THE HAND THAT REACHES OUT

The bad thing though is that some people don’t bother to worry about whether it is a good thought and a bad thought.  Regardless of whether or not it is something they SHOULD be thinking about, they grab on to it and mull it over. But the Bible says we need ONLY think about good things!

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

If it’s a good thought it’s okay to think about it but if it’s a bad thought you should get rid of it right away.  All you have to do is pray and ask God to help you and it will go away.

As it says in the Book of James chapter 4 verse 3, submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

PRETEND TO BLOW ON THE LIT UP THUMB AND MAKE IT GO OUT

Some people don’t want to resist though. They catch every thought that comes by no matter how it comes to them and they want to sit and play with it.

GRAB A THOUGHT OUT OF THE AIR

Thoughts can come through things we hear

PRETEND TO PUT THE LIT UP THUMB INTO YOUR EAR AND THEN TURN THE LIGHT OFF AND PRETEND IT WENT INTO YOUR EAR.

Thoughts can come through things we see or watch

GRAB ANOTHER LIGHT OUT OF THE AIR AND THEN PRETEND TO PUT IT INTO YOUR EYE

Instead of resisting the devil, some people instead entertain every goofy, silly thought that pops into their head. They allow it to work on them and pretty soon they’re comfortable with thinking differently than God wants us to think.

Proverbs 4:23 be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life

One goofy thought soon leads to another

TOUCH A LIT UP THUMB TO YOUR SECOND THUMB AND MAKE IT LIGHT UP ALSO. NOW YOU HAVE TWO CRAZY THOUGHTS!

And people with weird ideas don’t keep them to themselves!  For some reason, they also want to share those thoughts with others.  Some thoughts should never be shared but people still like to get others in on the silliness.

PRETEND TO TOSS THE IDEA TO THE OTHER PERSON AND THEY WILL ACT LIKE THEY ARE CATCHING IT AND NOW YOU WILL BOTH HAVE LIT UP THUMBS.

All of us at one time or another will have a crazy thought come into our minds. It is part of being human and nothing that we can do will avoid them entirely. However, just like you cannot stop a bird from flying over your head you do have the power, however, to keep that same bird from building a nest in your hair.

When a goofy thought pops into your mind or when someone tries to share it with you just do as James suggests and rebuke the devil and he will flee from you.

SAY “ IN JESUS NAME”,  BLOW ON THE THUMBS AND MAKE THEM GO OUT. HAVE YOUR PARTNER DO THE SAME.

Note: You can have a LOT of fun with these things by pretending to eat them, pulling them out of your nose or stomach, sneezing them out, lighting it up behind a glass and pretending to drink it, pulling it out of a child’s ear or nose… the possibilities are ENDLESS!
