No Weapon Formed Against Me | Object Lesson
This is an object lesson that can help you teach your class about how if we are living for God and have our hearts right, NO WEAPON formed against us will work!
Setup & Preparation:
Inflate two light-colored balloons and one dark-colored balloon.
Use the black marker to make a noticeable dark spot on one of the light-colored balloons.
Keep the laser pointer charged and ready.
Lesson:
Begin by explaining that everyone has a heart, and in this lesson, balloons will represent our hearts. Some hearts are clean, while others are stained with sin. The Bible tells us that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). No one is perfect, and sin affects everyone.
Romans 6:23 reminds us that “the wages of sin is death,” but God has provided a way of escape through His mercy and grace. This lesson will illustrate how sin makes us vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks, but living a life of repentance in God gives us His protection.
The Unprotected Heart (Dark Balloon)
Hold up the dark-colored balloon and explain that this represents a heart filled with sin.
Shine the laser pointer on the balloon. It will pop immediately.
Explain that without God’s protection, the enemy has full access to attack us, and sin makes us vulnerable.
The Protected Heart (Clean Balloon)
Hold up the light-colored balloon (without any markings).
Shine the laser pointer on it. It will not pop.
Explain that when we live for God, stay prayed up, and walk in righteousness, “no weapon formed against us shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17). The devil will try to destroy us, but he cannot succeed when our hearts are right before God.
The Weak Spot (Light Balloon with a Dark Mark)
Now, hold up the balloon with the black spot and explain that even strong Christians can struggle with weaknesses.
Shine the laser on the clean part—nothing happens. Then, move it to the black spot—the balloon pops instantly.
Explain that the enemy is always searching for our weak spots. Even when most of our heart is right, a small area of unrepented sin can become a target. The devil is persistent, and once he finds a weakness, he will keep attacking it until we fall.
Application:
Daily repentance is essential. Even if we think our heart is clean, we should always ask God to reveal any hidden areas of sin. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10).
The enemy is looking for any way to take us down, but God has given us a way to stay protected. Repenting, praying, and obeying God’s Word keeps our hearts strong.
Even Paul, one of the greatest apostles, spoke about having a “thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7). Everyone has struggles, but the key is to stay close to God and not allow sin to linge
End by encouraging the students to pray daily and ask God to help them recognize and remove anything in their lives that could be a weak spot. Sin left unchecked is dangerous, but repentance brings restoration and protection.
Encourage them to take time every day to talk to God, ask for forgiveness, and trust in His power to keep them strong.
If you let even a small spot of sin remain in your heart, the enemy will use it against you. But if you stay prayed up and covered by God’s grace, no weapon formed against you will succeed!
