Letter From My Best Friend

What you Need:

  • An envelope with a piece of paper inside

Lesson:

This is a very fun object lesson about the Bible!

You have someone on stage really just filling time (known as LETTER MAN from here on) until a 2nd person (known as FRIEND from here on) runs in excitedly and tells LETTER MAN that he has received a letter. But this is not just any letter, no, not at all, it is marked, from “LETTER MAN’S BEST FRIEND”!

LETTER MAN goes absolutely crazy and is thrilled to death to have received this letter. They go on and on about how excited they are, about how wonderful their friend is and about how much this means to them.

The FRIEND eventually asks, “well what did the letter say? What did they tell you?”

LETTER MAN stammers and stutters around until it finally becomes clear that he actually never read the letter. He becomes quite defensive and says that the letter is far too important and precious to actually open it and read it.

A big argument follows and finally, the FRIEND begins to liken the situation to people and their Bibles. Some people have a Bible and never read it. They sometimes even talk about how wonderful God is but have never even bothered to read the love letter that He wrote them.

How can you be a Christian and not read the Bible? It just doesn’t make sense.

When the point has been very clearly, LETTER MAN can repent of his ways, open the letter and read it. Make this emotional and dramatic.

If you have a Friend, especially a friend that sticks closer than a brother, you definitely want to read the mail He has sent you. That’s what a true friendship is really all about.
