God Plays By the Rules | Pom Pom Stick

About the Lesson:
This lesson uses a magic prop called the Pom Pom Magic Stick. When you pull ANY of the pom poms it will pull any other the others as well. How can they all be connected to each other?
Just when people think they have it all figured out you pull the entire stick in half and show that there is NOTHING connecting the two sides. Super cool!
While the explanation of how the trick works isn’t too complicated it definitely stumped me and because I couldn’t figure it out, I had to buy it. To ruin it for you, there are strings connecting the two pom-poms on each side to each other and two magnets connecting the two sides to each other. When you are ready for the ending, you simply pull a pom-pom on each side of the tube until the magnets separate. Then you can pull the tube apart showing nothing connecting them. After you are done you can then push all the strings back into the tube giving enough slack for the magnets to touch again, turn the tube a few times to the side and the magnets will reconnect and all the balls will once again be connected.
Just make sure when you show the two pieces of the tube separated that you angle them up slightly so the audience cannot see inside the tubes and detect what is going on.

AS YOU SAY THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT PULL THE YELLOW POM POM BALL AND WATCH THE GREEN ONE BE PULLED AGAINST THE TUBE
If you repent, He WILL forgive you… God has to forgive you because when God says something He will NEVER lie… in fact, God is not a man that He CAN lie.
SAY THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT AS YOU FLIP THE POM POM STICK OVER AND PULL THE BLUE POM POM BALL AND WATCH THE YELLOW BALL BE PULLED AGAINST THE TUBE
Here’s another rule… if you are baptized in Jesus name all of your sins will be washed away.
SAY THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT AS YOU NOW PULL THE RED POM POM BALL AND WATCH THE BLUE BALL BE PULLED AGAINST THE TUBE
If you read your Bible you WILL grow in God.
SAY THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT AS YOU NOW FLIP THE TUBE OVER AGAIN AND PULL THE GREEN POM POM BALL AND WATCH THE RED BALL BE PULLED AGAINST THE TUBE. YOU WILL BE RIGHT BACK WHERE YOU STARTED.
Ask and it SHALL be given you. Be careful what you ask for, because if you pray about it enough God WILL answer you.
So all of these little pom poms are connected to one another… that is pretty crazy but I think I know how it works. Do you know how it works?
But now it just gets crazy… what about this one?
POINT TO THE BLUE DIAGONAL POM POM BALL
Can this blue be connected all the way across to the green one? No way! But God can do anything and He will also do what He says He will do! Like…
PULL THE BLUE POM POM BALL AND WATCH THE GREEN BALL BE PULLED AS YOU SAY THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT
WHAT?! It is connected! There is another rule God has set into place. If you seek YOU SHALL FIND! At the altar you WILL get the Holy Ghost if you just keep seeking for it… if you don’t get it the first time, keep praying because God made a rule and He sticks by them.
But what about these two? These other two balls can’t be connected can they?
PULL DOWN THE RED BALL REAL QUICK JUST TO SETUP THE NEXT SET OF DIAGONALS. POINT TO THE YELLOW BALL.
Can this really happen? No way… What about the rule that God said… If you knock it SHALL be opened! Like the woman and the unjust judge.
PULL THE YELLOW POM POM BALL AND WATCH THE RED BALL BE PULLED UP
But while God MUST play by the rules, every now and then He likes to flex His muscles and show us just how big and just how amazing He is. You may THINK you have God all figured out. You may think you know all there is about my Great Big Amazing God but there is ALWAYS SO MUCH MORE TO LEARN!
Isaiah 55:8 – For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
God like to show up new things every now and then just to blow our minds.
Isaiah 43:19 – Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Sometimes it’s folding back the waters for His people to cross a sea on dry ground – Ex. 14:21-22
Of maybe it is like the story of Jesus with the professional fishermen who thought they knew EVERYTHING about fishing.
In Luke Jesus said to Simon, “Push the boat out further to the deep water, and you and your partners let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered, “we worked hard all night long and caught nothing. But if you say so, I will let down the nets.” They let them down and caught such a large number of fish that the nets were about to break. … He and the others with him were amazed at the large number of fish they had caught.
So, whenever you think you have God figured out… just the way that some of you think you have this little thing here figured out, God likes to blow our minds and show us that He is just a GREAT BIG GOD!
PULL THE TRICK APART AND SHOW THAT NOTHING IS CONNECTED.
AFTER ENJOYING THE DUMBFOUNDED LOOKS ON YOUR AUDIENCE’S FACES PUT THE TUBE BACK TOGETHER AGAIN, PULL THE STRINGS INTO THE TUBE, ROTATE THE TUBE BACK AND FORTH SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN START TO PULL THE VARIOUS POM POMS TO SHOW THAT THEY ARE ONCE AGAIN CONNECTED.
We may not understand everything about God and we sure enough aren’t smarter than Him but we do know that He is a BIG God! He can do ANYTHING!
I am going to trust Him no matter what!
